Chantal Ughi Actress
Chantal was born to a French mother and an Italian father and grew up between New York, Paris and Milan. She studied music as a child before becoming an actor and making movies for the directors Danny Lerner, Peter Del Monte, Citto Maselli, Giuseppe Piccioni and Fulvio Ottaviano. After studying ad RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts) in London, she moved back to New York City, where she starred in the movie 'The Big Apple' which won the audience award at the las Vegas Independent Film and Video festival. Once in NYC she became a photographer and a film maker- her debut film 'La Mia Mano Destra (My Right Hand) won Best Short at the Brooklyn International Film Festival and she also made a number of videos for the Grammy Award nominated band Brazilian Girls. In 2005 she was awarded a US Green Card for outstanding achievements in the field of Acting and Directing.
In January 2008 she decided to move to Thailand and make a documentary on women doing Thai boxing in a Chiang Mai jail.
Whilst in Thailand she got serious about Muay thai training and in December 2008 she became WPMF (World Professional Muay Thai Federation) World Champion in the 63.5 kg. division.
She has a record of 67 fights with 47 Wins and 20 losses and became 7 times World Champion.
She is now back pursuing her acting career and recently had a featured role in the movie 'All The Money in The World' where she worked with director Ridley Scott. In 2016 director Simone Manetti made a movie about her life story where Chantal plays herself. The movie is a docu-drama, mainly shot on location in Thailand and very challenging to make. Chantal had to focus on training and fighting to regain a World title while letting a film troupe follow her 24 hours a day. The film was a success. It won many film festivals around the world including the prestigious Biografilm festival in Bologna and the Mexico City film festival. Chantal is also the lead actress of Fiorella Mannoia 'Nessuna Conseguenza' Music video. Her latest work is the feature film 'El Plebeyo', a period musical film set in Lima Peru' in the 1920s by Peruvian-American director Catherine C. Pirotta, where she acts and sings in Spanish.
