Diogo C. Martins Actor
Diogo C. Martins is an actor, writer, and producer originally from Lisbon, Portugal, now based in New York. He holds an MFA in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School and is the Associate Artistic Director of Saudade Theatre, the first and only theatre company in the United States dedicated to producing original work rooted in the Portuguese-American experience.
An original member of Actors Theatre of New York and the LAByrinth Theatre Intensive Ensemble (2014), Diogo has produced and appeared in world premieres including El Comanchero or [The Path to The Kingdom of Heaven] (Kraine Theater), My Favorite Suicide (AMAW LA), and The Constitution (MiMoDa Studios, LA; Under St. Marks, NY).
His writing credits include the play El Comanchero and the short films The Celibate Space Traveler and Chance Encounters. On screen, his work includes roles in The Pianist (BeActive Media) and FBI (CBS). His most recent film project is an immersive cinematic experience produced for the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and the Teddy Roosevelt Foundation, in which he appears alongside Severance and Devil in Disguise star Michael Chernus, in the role of the intrepid president. His theatre credits also include Gruesome Playground Injuries (Gibney Theater), The Accident (Kraine Theater—winner of the Best Drama Award at The Frigid Festival 2015), and I’m Dreaming (But Am I) (Cherry Lane Studio, NY).
In addition to his stage and screen work, Diogo is an active voice artist and has narrated projects including the audiobook of Skylight by Nobel Prize–winning author José Saramago.
